I never thought my mid-40s would involve this much, well, intestinal introspection.
They say life begins at 40, but nobody mentioned that lemon juice would become a primary food group!
So, why a colon cleanse?
Let’s just say curiosity got the better of me.
I’d heard a colon cleanse could cure illnesses (such as high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, etc.), improve energy, skin, and overall well-being, and with all those benefits, I thought, “Why not?”
Little did I know these 30 days would be a whirlwind of lemons, water fruits, and more than a few surprising revelations.
The Journey Begins
The cleanse started off… sour — literally!
Each day began with the juice of four lemons, no earlier than 10 am, as per the cleanse gospel.
I was squeezing lemons like I was prepping for a juicing championship, with sticky fingers and a kitchen that smelled like a citrus grove.
My first thoughts were, “Is all this sourness really going to work its magic?” But I was committed, and after the initial puckered-lips phase, I settled into the routine.
